Had a lovely time basking in a rare warm winter Day in the Chifley Meadows, learning all sorts about colour pencil drawing. Maggie, our teacher, worked carefully with all attendees and demonstrated her instructions well. She was also helpful with tips on getting better colour depth, uses for a white pencil, and how to frame subject matter into the page.

Maggie was great. She provided technique instruction within the context of a drawing I can practice to improve. She stretched me beyond what I believed I could do and was encouraging and supportive. I highly recommend this course and will keep my eye out for others taught by her.

I have been drawing for less than a year. I decided after I was diagnosed with a slow growing brain tumour that life really was too short, and you never know what the future may hold. As someone who couldn't draw a straight line, I decided to watch YouTube videos and teach myself what I needed to know. The inspiration for this drawing came from wanting to do something different. I was getting bored drawing flowers, fruits, and vegetables, so decided to combine two different elements to see wh

I began my painting journey just 3 years ago, wanting to explore a new way to express myself artistically. This piece 70x60cm, Acrylic on canvas was created for my dear sister for her 50th birthday. It represents her adoration of Australian native Gum trees and now hangs on a black, smokey feature wall in the master bedroom.

I'm delighted to share with you the story behind my artwork titled, "Perpetual Unfolding of Now.? This painting is not just about brushstrokes and colours, but about my own personal journey of grief, loss, courage and healing. My work is always inspired by my love of nature and this piece is no exception. The wide expanse of blue sky with playful clouds at the top of this painting that is juxtaposed with sharp, geometric shapes and line are my attempt at working through finding order amo

My journey into coloured pencil art has opened up a whole new world for me. After believing for many years I had no artistic talent, I knuckled down during Covid lockdown and learnt to draw and render animals in pencil. I draw birds because I love birds. This one of the Spotted Pardalote was a finalist in last year's Holmes Prize for Realistic Australian Bird Art. I have since started photographing my own material, and have begun dabbling in watercolour. This photo was taken by Rhonda Corcoran

This is a local Canberra fox. Not a native species, but a local non the less. As an animal lover, I find the animal beautiful. As an Aussie, I find its presence disturbing. The reference photo, taken by local photographer Marina Fascianelli, had the stunned, cautious look of an animal who was not wanting to be seen, hence the title of the work.I've seen foxes on my walks near Ginninderra Creek, the same look stared at me as the one in this portrait. Beautiful, scary, and one that is out of

Winter?s grip on the Straits of Mackinac slowly melts away with each passing day of warm sunshine. The ice cover gradually retreats with the approaching spring and renewal of another shipping season on the Great Lakes. Round Island Lighthouse has been a sentinel and silent witness to this annual ritual for over a hundred years.
