My journey into coloured pencil art has opened up a whole new world for me. After believing for many years I had no artistic talent, I knuckled down during Covid lockdown and learnt to draw and render animals in pencil. I draw birds because I love birds. This one of the Spotted Pardalote was a finalist in last year's Holmes Prize for Realistic Australian Bird Art. I have since started photographing my own material, and have begun dabbling in watercolour. This photo was taken by Rhonda Corcoran

This is a local Canberra fox. Not a native species, but a local non the less. As an animal lover, I find the animal beautiful. As an Aussie, I find its presence disturbing. The reference photo, taken by local photographer Marina Fascianelli, had the stunned, cautious look of an animal who was not wanting to be seen, hence the title of the work.I've seen foxes on my walks near Ginninderra Creek, the same look stared at me as the one in this portrait. Beautiful, scary, and one that is out of

Title or Location: Magpies in conversation
Australian magpies are a a delight but also a terror when swooping unsuspecting pedestrians and cyclists. I met this character in early summer at my daughter?s school playground and snapped a few photos as it explored. I love how their stark black and white plumage lends itself to simplified, almost flat designs and thought the painted and numbered asphalt made an interesting and slightly cryptic background. By flipping one image I had two magpies in conversation and a lucky number 8!

'Sunshine and joy' by Kiran Mehta - This one was so much fun to create. Created while waiting for the much needed end of year break. The warm hues and sunshine vibes definitely spark joy in me. I am sure you will connect with this artwork with similar feelings. These colours are therapeutic for my soul. I would love to pass on the same vibe to my collectors. This is an original artwork created on gallery wrapped professional quality stretched canvas, is varnished in satin finish and comes wi

The owner told me that she wanted something fun, relaxing, and beautiful to adorn her shed. She pointed out the she especially hated the electric meter. About 1/2 way across painting on the shed, she came out with ice tea and asked if I could also include the Blue Ridge Mountains. So, I made the building end (made a corner) and then added some blue ridge mountains off in the background. Finished product has feelings of Greece with Blue Ridge mountains, making it a true fantasy piece!

I saw a similar piece somewhere and decided to try this style as opposed to charcoal portraiture. Oils on canvas. A very different path to choose. But I'm loving it so far.

Karina Petrova (b. 1983, Ukraine) lives and works in Ballymena, Northern Ireland. She lives surrounded by nature, and in nature she finds the greatest source of inspiration to create art that "evokes positive emotions in people".Her characters are various and unique, embedded into the landscape that flows through and around them. They are the inventions of her imagination, but they are also visions of a world in harmony. For Karina, the act of creation is a healing process which unl

I painted this recently from a photo I took during a Friends Weekend several years ago. We stopped our bicycles on the bridge and snapped a few photos. The icy cold water was a brilliant blue from the mineral content. The Pine River flows into Vallecito Lake near Bayfield and Durango.

Starshine is sculpted and painted on glass and decorated with glass beads .The background is painted on acid free matte board and spaced away from the glass to give the work depth. I love combining my sculpting and painting skills in artwork like this!
